Shrewd Foods Protein Crisps
I received these products free of charge in exchange for a review.
One of the ways I manage my type 1 diabetes is by controlling the carbs that I eat. I limit each meal to a certain number of carbs and try to keep my snacks as low carb as possible.
So, I jumped at the offer to test out and review Shrewd Food’s‘ protein crisps. A low-carb, crispy, cheesy snack? Count me in!
They sent me three flavors:
- Cheddar
- Brick Oven Pizza
- Sriracha Cheddar
They also make Smokehouse Maple and Cookies & Cream flavors that sound delicious.
The cheddar flavor were my favorite of the three flavors. Its taste and texture are like a combination of a cheese puff and Moon Cheese (another favorite low-carb snack). It satisfies both the crunchy and cheese snack flavor. Sriracha has a bit of a kick to it, satisfying the spicy/cheesy craving. The Brick Oven Pizza flavor is savory and reminds me of pizza flavored snacks from my childhood (like Combos and Bugles).
Each bag I was sent has 14 grams of protein and only 2 grams of carbohydrates, so they balanced well with my diet. One of the problems I’ve had is keeping low carb snacks on hand at work that don’t need refrigeration. These fit in the snack drawer perfectly.
If you live in the Northeast, you can find these at several Costco locations, the rest of us can order them online from Netrition or Amazon.
What flavor would you try?
Sriracha Cheddar for certain. Oh yeah I want those.
