Blog Action Day: Planning Meals

Today is Blog Action Day, it’s a day that bloggers everywhere post about a specific topic. This year, it’s about food. Since my whole diet recent changed this is a topic I’m ready to talk about.

Shortly after I was diagnosed, I decided to start planning out our meals.

I decided to meal plan. I don’t have much of an attention span and I have a husband who says, “You can’t make anything that I won’t eat” every time I ask for opinions. So I decided that we would plan all of our dinners for a week at a time.

I’ve only been doing this for a couple of weeks, but it’s already paying off (beyond the diabetic benefits). When I  get home from work, I know what we’re having and that we have the ingredients for it. There’s no standing in front of the pantry or fridge hoping that something will jump out at me and yell “Look! I’m dinner!” There’s also much less temptation to just go out and avoid making a decision.

Although things seem to be going well, I feel like when I sit down there aren’t enough potential meals in my head to fill up a week!

Anyone else meal plan out there?

  1. I DO! It’s the only way I can keep my sanity and stay on budget each week. It’s so tempting to just stop by the grocery store on the way home from work, but I was doing that almost every day before we started meal planning.
